Pusenjak further says that they didn’t intend to have those games removed from the App Store, but to specifically address potential infringements rather than removal of the games, themselves.Īnd we have made this clear to every developer who has contacted us - you don’t need to take your game down, but you need to change the infringing elements. One of their arguments for threatening to cancel our registered Doodle Jump trademark was that we did not prevent other games from using the word ‘Doodle’. That notice was sent out largely to protect our Doodle Jump trademark from threats of being canceled by Bryan Duke’s big-house law firm. He claims the reason behind the infringement notices were, in fact, defensive. Last night, Igor Pusenjak of LimaSky released an official statement about the whole debacle over at .įirst, and foremost, Pusenjak reports that he has instructed his lawyer to withdraw the complaint notices from Apple. #DOODLEJUMP GUY FULL#This was a bit unfair, though not totally unprecedented for the internet, as LimaSky had yet to even comment with their side of the story, and in just a couple of days the lynch mob mentality was in full swing. Since Monday this story has quickly created quite a stir on the internet, with a groundswell of support for the independent App Store developers and a whole heaping load of ire towards LimaSky. ![]() Bryan Duke of Acceleroto detailed some additional information pertaining to his own personal situation dealing with the term “Doodle” and how it pertained to LimaSky. Other developers started chiming into the thread, however, and stated that they had received similar warnings about their own “Doodle” games. Wizards was ready to change the name of their game so as not to see it pulled off the App Store. Assuming that they were in the wrong, Robots Vs. Wizards started a topic in our forums announcing that they had received word from Apple that they would need to change the name of their game Doodle Monster, at the insistence of Doodle Jump creators LimaSky, as it could potentially infringe on a trademark held by them. Yesterday, we posted about an issue that had recently gained quite a bit of attention in the App Store world. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Consequently, Shelley criticizes the pompous attitudes of modern political powers and presents the reality that their efforts will disappear along with their boastfulness in the future. Eternally locked in a harsh, disapproving expression, his legacy is left to fade into the dust as a tyrant with no followers to “look on works” anymore. While it may have been intended to be a representation of the pharaoh’s strength and authority, it became a caricature of who Ozymandias was. The descriptions of the bleak desert and implications of the “antique land” represent the Romantics’ strong fascination towards nature, leading to the traveler’s discovery of Ozymandias’s statue. “Ozymandias” possesses many themes found within Romantic poems, such as exoticism, mystery, strong emotions, irony, and criticism of higher authority. Aside from this, the use of assonance in “an antique land” of line 1 and alliteration in line 5’s “cold command” emphasizes the respective mystique of far-off lands and stiffness in Ozymandias’s expression. There is extremely strong imagery in the descriptions of the broken statue, demonstrating the significance within its shattered state and detailed etchings. Similarly, the use of figurative devices are also used to convey meaning in this poem. The poem is then reminiscent of a parable or lament, expressing deep emotion and presenting a moral lesson. This poetic form conveys power and might, especially when read aloud, and builds a sense of lyricism. There are 14 lines, irregular and run-on, following a ABABACDCEDEFEF rhyme scheme. This poem is a sonnet written as a block of text in iambic pentameter. Despite the statue’s decaying visage, the traveler makes note of how Ozymandias’s eroded sneer was “mocked” by the sculptor’s hands, thus presenting the view that everything eventually falls to dust. However, the second speaker of this poem, the traveler, sheds more light onto their attitude towards what they witnessed during their journey. Therefore, there are little to no descriptions of how this speaker felt towards Ozymandias. This poem mainly consists of the persona quoting the traveler’s words, the former only speaking very briefly to provide context on how the latter fits into the rest of the poem. “Ozymandias” is told from the perspective of a speaker who meets a traveler with a story to share and recalls the details of the said traveler’s tale. ![]() This statement, unfortunately, falls upon deaf ears and is only greeted by the vast, lonely expanse of the desert sands ahead. The engraved words present a proclamation of pride: Ozymandias was the “King of Kings” and all who stumble upon what is left of him should tremble and “despair” at his might. The poem first begins with a general view of the statue-two severed stone legs and a crumbling face resting in the sand-before delving into more detailed descriptions like the stern expression on the statue’s face and the inscription on its pedestal. Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “Ozymandias” exemplifies these qualities of the Romantic Age, and serves as an example of Literary Romanticism.Īs per its title, this poem discusses what is left of Ozymandias, the Egyptian Pharaoh Rameses II, and the remnants of his legacy based on the image of his statue falling apart in the desert. The emphasis on emotions above logic brought exploration of the realms of fantasy and imagination, in addition to an unbridled passion for nature and ancient relics of the past. This period of change allowed for the revisitation and revision of medieval works, turning them mostly into subjective poetry which emphasized the depths of the poets’ psychology. Romanticism primarily struck English artistic, literary, and intellectual culture during a time of political reform and upheaval, coinciding with the Age of Revolution. ![]() ![]() ![]() These usually involve manipulating environmental objects or running through a series of platforming challenges to reach a point where the environment can be manipulated. To its credit, there are some interesting boss fights to be found in KND. The first revolving aerial dogfight against a monstrous snot spewing bomber is a little too much, for example. The game does also include some interesting on-rails shooting segments, but even those drag on a bit much in the end. That is, there is little reason to not being able to do something we could do earlier. Instead, it's as if they were arbitrarily stripped of certain powers to make the switch plausible. KND does at least try and create some distinction between its levels by forcing players into different roles (those of the various Numbuhs, or kid agents) but the characters don't feel special or better equipped to handle particular tasks. And again, the game feels incapable of maintaining a solid pace and a good sense of control thanks to the platforming bits and an always irksome camera. ![]() Neither shooting nor clumsily beating foes into submission is particularly exciting. If we are to leap through a series of treacherous timed platforming events, we should at least not be limited by basic control inadequacies.īetween all the platforming comes KND's other types of action - melee and ranged combat, namely. This added level of frustration makes the already lacking amount of interesting content a little more bothersome. This makes it hard to quickly predict a course of action or determine where you are in the immediate area. While none of these platforming segments is original, most problematic is the game's clunky collision detection and strangely uncooperative camera that prevents players from obtaining clear views of environments. With controller in hand, players can leap around the game environment landing on a variety of moving platforms, dart between perilous lasers, vault over electrified grates, circumvent pools of toxicity and otherwise move around miscellaneous obstructions. To keep the game accessible for younger audiences, KND employs a simple jump and double jump type of world navigation system. The biggest portion of KND is the basic platforming. Unfortunately, no single type of gameplay in KND is developed enough to support itself and the greater whole comes off as a series of disjointed missions with little staying power. In fact, the ideas behind multiple character use, platforming, ranged combat, melee combat, and the occasional appearance of brief on-rails sections have served as the foundation blocks of similar games for many years. This game tries to saturate its own set of similar adventures with that style, but fails to deliver any semblance of enjoyable gameplay to augment its reliance on the source material and create a compelling product for any age group.ĭespite a penchant for the continual use of nonsensical acronyms (found in the show, as well), the principles that comprise Codename: Kids Next Door Operation V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E. Most of these exploits make good use of bathroom humor and prepubescent acts of heroism to elicit laughs. Since 2002, Cartoon Network's Codename: Kids Next Door (or KND) has been entertaining children in half hour segments with its rowdy depiction of five well funded ten-year olds and their ongoing operations against oppressive adults. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() Our job in the IoT ecosystem is to find them, encourage them and make these champions of change successful. This person has the vision, understands problems an IoT solution will tackle in their context, and can put a strong business case together to get an internal Go! from leadership. ![]() A champion of change, an innovation instigator, or just a product manager looking to differentiate their offers that has the grit to go upstream and uphill, is a must. The first one is absolutely necessary to get anything started within even a small to mid-size organization. A solution with the right components and partners. An internal champion with a strong business case. The fundamentals of what is required for a successful IoT project are three things: It starts with the vision of the IoT champions and the right solution elements to help them succeed. Since that time I have been working with Ray, and now at Blues Wireless, in his quest that extends back to Fukushima disaster a decade back ( Ray: Soul of a New Machine) on removing friction for building real world IoT solutions. I was challenged with "What are you going to do about it?" by Ray and AT&T leadership. We had to get ready to help developers onboard billions of devices over the next decade. As the leading IoT network operator in the world with commitments to deploying what is now termed as 5G low power wide area networks, this was a must-do part of the strategy for AT&T. Ray shared his thoughts on how necessary it was for the IoT industry, the developer ecosystem and AT&T to reduce the cost and complexity of building connected products. We had an informal coffee at a sidewalk café, and again later in the week we met more formally in an in-venue meeting about future investments required to connect billions of devices to the Internet. I met Ray in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress 2018. Instead, it was because, just two weeks prior, I had met Ray Ozzie for the first time, and by the time I returned to the office, my perspective on what's possible in IoT and how we get there had changed. ![]() ![]() That day doesn't stick in my mind because of anything happening on the Foundry floor. But many more have unfortunately failed, besides bests of intention and effort. It was an exciting time and place and many of those projects are now real connected products that are commercially deployed in hundreds of thousands of units, and several in the millions. Some were colleagues, some partners in resident, others were customers and consultants visiting, all busy across the floor at different stations and work rooms, championing many IoT solution projects. I walked past all this on this normal day of work into my glass office space at the end, turned around and looked at the hustle and bustle of many IoT Champions. Behind these assets, along the wall, was specialized equipment and stations for trained engineers who printed circuit boards, made enclosures on 3D printers, tested antennas in specialized instrumented faraday cages and wrote custom firmware and applications. Size of a notecard driver#At least a dozen other similar assets were arranged down the entrance in different stages of being connected: wheelchairs, luggage, gas meters, feed containers, a specialized camera, a driver monitoring device for insurance, a health bracelet and on and on. There were two customer assets that were being unpacked on the journey to make them into smart connected products – one was a scooter for monitoring and payment processing, the other was part of an oil rig for instrumenting sensors for specific gas monitoring. The Foundry was bustling with action that day. The Bluebonnets were blooming, and so were the IoT projects at the Foundry. It was a cool day in spring and the weather was perfect. A little over three years ago when I was an employee at AT&T, I walked into the IoT Foundry, an AT&T IoT innovation center in Plano, TX. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() “I can’t wait to see what people do next,” Stevenson said.
